Bloomfield College's Creative Arts & Technology (CAT) Division has been incorporating game development into its Multimedia major since 1998, and developed the certificate and BA programs in Game Development in 2003-2004. It draws upon CAT's 20+ years of experience in the arts to deliver a complete industry experience utilizing programming, audio production, 2D graphics, 3D modeling and animation, and cinematography to build a program capable of providing the educational experience necessary to meet the needs of today's games industry.

With over 40 companies in the metro New York area developing casual, mobile, social, and serious games, there are plenty of opportunities for talented students to network, find internships and apply their craft as professionals after graduation. CAT graduates are working throughout the local industry and across the country in small to large organizations. Industry placement includes CafeMom, High 5 Games, Naughty Dog, MTV, Ryzing, SkyZone, The Electric Sheep Company, Vogster Entertainment, and many others. Four CAT alumni worked at Kaos Studios and helped release the highly acclaimed AAA games Frontlines: Fuel of War and Homefront.

Video and computer games are a $31 billion global industry, powered by an ever-growing creative and technical workforce. Depending on your strengths and interests (the artistic or the technical), you will choose from two tracks: Game Design or Game Programming. If you always wanted to know how to program your favorite game, why not create your own game and program it yourself, or with a team of CAT students.
