Pete's Odyssey, Larry Lauria, Studio Kinate, Bloomfield College
An original musical animated short about a young female songbird who leaves her hallow to discover the world outside, facing the unknown and her fears, and taking responsibility for her path in life. As with most birds in the wild, she must leave the protection of her parents and learn to fend for herself. Young Pete is a tomboy, but she isn't too sure about all the changes that are taking place in her. Timidly leaving her hallow, she ventures out to discover the world around her tree. The more she explores the more she forgets her fears. Upon returning to her messy room, she sets off on a mission to clean up her surroundings. However, in her haste she accidentally crashes into a branch and is knocked out. While unconscious, she dreams she is chased by the embodiment of her fear. She finally stands up to her fears and upon waking, is even more determined. At it's conclusion, Pete makes a discovery and realizes that a new adventure awaits her. This sweet story set to the bluesy sound of "Unafraid to Find" by singer/song writer, Michelle Armstrong is a hand drawn animation.
